Summary. The purpose of the study. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the local hemostatic first aid agent “Gemovis” (Hemostatic Gel) and its effect on the wound canal wall in an experiment.
Materials and methods of research. Experimental studies were conducted on white mongrel male pigs weighing (51±5.3) kg. In total, 2 animals were involved in the experiment – 8 series (4 wounds in each animal). The wounds were sequentially inflicted and hemostatic agents were used in them, first on the left thigh and left shoulder, then after infusion therapy and hemodilution of the right thigh and right shoulder with damage to the main arteries. The effectiveness of the hemostatic drug was assessed by achieving primary temporary, secondary temporary and completed temporary hemostasis. The safety of the drug was assessed by microscopy of the wound canal wall with adjacent muscle tissues to a depth of 1 cm.
The results of the study and their analysis. The study revealed that the technique widely used to evaluate the effectiveness of traditional local hemostatic agents, presented in the form of bandages or granules, is not sufficiently adapted to studies of the characteristics of gel-like analogues. At the same time, applying the volume of MGS “Gemovis” to the area of a stab wound with damage to the main artery showed its high effectiveness. The use of the gel-like volume of MGS “Gemovis” in conditions of narrow wound channels with damage to the main vessels, in the absence of the possibility of using traditional local hemostatic agents followed by tamponing, made it possible to achieve primary, secondary and complete hemostasis without the use of tamponade and pressure bandage. The histological studies of the wound canal wall showed the absence of deep changes in the tissues. That in case of gunshot and shrapnel wounds will not affect the course of the wound process.
