June 22, 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of Natalya Nikolaevna Baranova, the chief physician of the Center for Air Ambulance and Emergency Medical Care of the Center for Medical Evacuation Support of the Federal State Budgetary Institution State Scientific Center FMBC named after. A.I. Burnazyan FMBA of Russia, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, Professor of the Department of Disaster Medicine with a course of emergency medical care at the Medical-Biological University of Innovation and Continuing Education, member of the editorial board of the journal “Disaster Medicine”
In 1997, N.N. Baranova graduated from the Ivanovo State Medical Academy, then worked as a doctor on the visiting team of the emergency medical service station and the intensive care cardiology team in Ivanovo.
In 2002–2021 worked at the All-Russian Center for Disaster Medicine “Zashchita” of the Russian Ministry of Health as an emergency medical technician and deputy chief physician of the Center for Air Ambulance and Medical Evacuation.
Currently, N.N. Baranova is the chief physician of the Center for Air Ambulance and Emergency Medical Care of the Center for Medical Evacuation Support of the Federal State Budgetary Institution State Scientific Center FMBC named after. A.I. Burnazyan FMBA of Russia.
In 2016, Natalya Nikolaevna defended her dissertation for the academic degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences in specialty 05.26.02 – Safety in emergency situations (disaster medicine). The topic of the dissertation is “The training system for specialists of mobile aeromedical teams in the Russian Federation.” As part of the dissertation research, a curriculum was developed for training EMS specialists for aeromedical teams, approved by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice of Russia.
He has the academic title of associate professor in specialty 05.26.02 – Safety in emergency situations (disaster medicine).
Natalya Nikolaevna took part in organizing and conducting medical evacuation of victims in local armed conflicts on the territory of the republics of the North Caucasus, during a terrorist attack in Beslan, a fire in Perm and in other emergencies.
She successfully applies the skills of organizing and providing emergency, including specialized emergency medical care, and conducting sanitary and aviation evacuation of sick and injured people – both in Russia and from abroad. Ensured the duty of emergency medical services teams on the territory of the Kremlin.
Has an international air rescue certificate.
Currently (2023–2024) he is in charge of the SMP brigades in the Belgorod, Donetsk and Crimean directions of the Special Military Operation with travel to their place of work.
Scientific and educational activities, personnel training are an important area of activity for N.N. Baranova.
She has experience in developing training programs, training modules and teaching materials, as well as organizing the educational process, and personally participated in conducting classes to train specialists from air ambulance teams for medical support of the Olympic Games in Sochi (2014) and the FIFA World Cup (2018) .
Since 2018, he has been a WHO expert on the development of basic principles of work, certification and recertification of International Medical Emergency Response Teams – Emergency Medical Teams. She participated in the certification of the IMBHR in Spain, Portugal, Estonia, Italy, the People’s Republic of China, etc. Taking into account the materials she proposed on the organization and conduct of medical evacuation (monitoring, routing, quality criteria for medical evacuation), sections of the Red Book were developed ) – WHO guidelines for the work of the IFFHR in conditions of military and armed conflicts at the international level.
In 2019, on the initiative of N.N. Baranova, a WHO working group was created to standardize medical evacuation at the international level, and a number of meetings were held to develop documents regulating the organizational, clinical and technical principles of the work of medical evacuation teams at the national and international level. N.N. Baranova is the official WHO representative in Russia for the development of the IHRHR initiative. Currently, she is a mentor for re-certification of the Field Mobile Hospital of the FMBC clinic named after. A.I. Burnazyan and primary certification – Field Hospital of the Federal Center for Disaster Medicine as part of the National Medical and Surgical Center named after. N.I.Pirogov Ministry of Health of Russia.
Natalya Nikolaevna takes an active part in the work of the Foundation for Advanced Research in the development of new technologies for the provision of emergency and emergency specialized medical care, medical evacuation in peacetime and war, including the use of systems to support organizational and clinical decisions within the framework of the use of artificial intelligence.
Together with specialists from the Research Institute “Quality Institute” of Roszdravnadzor, she scientifically substantiated and developed practical recommendations for organizing internal quality control and safety of medical activities outside a medical organization when providing emergency and emergency specialized medical care.
For the first time in the country, she conducted an audit of internal quality control of field work forms at the Center for Air Ambulance and Emergency Medical Care of the FMBC named after. A.I. Burnazyan, as a result of which the department’s team received a certificate of conformity to the quality of Roszdravnadzor (2021).
In 2022, N.N. Baranova defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences in the specialties 05.26.02 – Safety in emergency situations (disaster medicine) and 02.14.03 – Public health and healthcare on the topic: “Medical evacuation of the sick and injured in emergency situations.”
Natalya Nikolaevna is a professor at the Department of Disaster Medicine with a course of emergency medical care at the Medical-Biological University of Innovation and Continuing Education, FMBC named after. A.I.Burnazyan. Introduced into practice educational programs for graduate school, residency, primary retraining, additional professional education in emergency medical care; deals with issues of determining the role and place of employees of emergency medical services teams in eliminating the health consequences of radiation emergencies, as well as issues of organizing an accreditation platform for primary and periodic accreditation of emergency medical care.
N.N. Baranova is a member of the expert group of the FMBA of Russia for assigning qualification categories in the specialty “emergency medical care”, and is the author of assessment tools for testing.
As part of the pilot project, he is engaged in methodological support for the implementation of the centralized subsystem “Management of emergency and emergency medical care” of the Unified Departmental Medical Information and Analytical System of the FMBA of Russia (EVMIAS FMBA of Russia) in accordance with the Passport of the departmental project “Creation of a unified digital circuit in healthcare of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency “as part of the implementation of the activities of the Federal project “Creation of a unified digital circuit in healthcare based on the Unified State Information System in the field of healthcare.”
As part of the visiting commissions of the FMBC clinic named after. A.I. Burnazyana Natalya Nikolaevna works as an expert in assessing the quality of emergency and emergency specialized medical care. Engaged in the development and improvement of patient routing schemes in medical medical organizations of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia; development of a strategy for the development of ambulance, including specialized emergency medical care and sanitary aviation in the FMBA of Russia system, taking into account the implementation of an internal quality control system when conducting on-site forms of work, the development of telemedicine technologies, digital document management, monitoring and routing of medical evacuation.
She is the author of the draft Concept for the development of a sanitary aviation evacuation system carried out on aircraft of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia; draft order “On approval of instructions for organizing and conducting sanitary aviation evacuation using aircraft of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia.”
N.N. Baranova is the author of about 140 published works, which cover the main issues of emergency, including specialized emergency medical care, medical evacuation, monitoring and routing of sick and injured people in emergencies. Natalya Nikolaevna – co-author of the two-volume textbook “Emergency Medicine” (2022); latest edition of the National Emergency Medical Guide (2023); monographs of the Russian Academy of Sciences “Organization of medical care for the wounded and injured: from the battlefield to high technologies” – on the experience of medical support for conducting SVO (2024); 15 methodological recommendations; 3 patents.
Three candidate’s theses were defended under the leadership of N.N. Baranova. She is the supervisor of four graduate students, one candidate for the title of candidate of medical sciences and one candidate for the title of doctor of medical sciences.
Natalya Nikolaevna participates in All-Russian and international conferences on the problems of emergency medical care, sanitary aviation evacuation and training of medical personnel, and is a member of the Specialized Commissions of the FMBA and the Russian Ministry of Health on emergency medical care and disaster medicine. Member of the editorial board of the journal Disaster Medicine.
N.N. Baranova has departmental awards from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, and the commandant of the Kremlin; medals and certificates of honor, including the medal “For saving the dead” (2005), the FSO medal “For interaction” (2014), the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations medals “For Merit” (2015) and “For Diligence” (2017), the medal of the Russian Ministry of Defense “For the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic” (2021). Natalya Nikolaevna was awarded certificates of honor from the Russian Ministry of Health, including for participation in medical support for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as a commemorative medal “XXII Olympic Winter Games and XI Paralympic Winter Games” (2014) in Sochi. She was a participant in the Olympic torch relay (torch bearer).
In 2017 she received the Eurasian Women’s Forum award “Public Recognition: Woman of the Year – 2016”, in 2020 she received a certificate of honor from the FMBA of Russia.
In 2024, she was awarded the Bronze Cross of the FMBA of Russia.
