Abstract. The state road safety programs are presented. The article considers the target indicators of the road safety and the ways to achieve them in the Russian Federation and the world community.

The article describes the changes in the targets for ensuring road safety during socio-economic crises. The order of accounting of the main indicators of the state of road safety in the Russian Federation is analyzed.
