Abstract. The article describes the multi-faceted activities of a number of military field therapists in the country during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
It is noted that a coherent system of providing therapeutic care to the wounded and sick was first created in our army during the war under the leadership and with the direct participation of the chief therapists of the Fronts, which is rightfully one of the priority achievements of Russian military medicine.
The organizational basis of the system of providing therapeutic care to the wounded and sick is presented: introduction of therapeutic positions at all levels of the medical service; creation of hospitals for lightly wounded, of therapeutic field mobile hospitals and therapeutic evacuation hospitals to provide qualified and specialized therapeutic care; inclusion of positions of therapists in the staff of surgical hospitals.
