The results of the International Academic Conference on Disaster Medicine held in Chengdu (China) on 4-6 may 2018 are presented.
The conference, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Sichuan province, discussed several main issues:

– the specifics and results of activity of the search and rescue and medical units in the conditions of the earthquake in Sichuan province (2008);
– experience of activity in earthquake foci in other countries;
– features of the evolution of rescue services and services for disaster medicine in different countries, influenced by the experience of participation of medical teams in liquidation of consequences of large-scale emergencies, etc.

The information was also provided about the structure and work of one of the largest civil hospitals of the People’s Republic of China – Sichuan Western hospital.
