Summary. Objective – characterisation of modern methods of drinking water treatment and disinfection used in the field.
Material and methods. A search of publications in Cochrane, Scopus and Web of Science databases by keywords «drinking water», «water purification methods», «water disinfection», «field conditions» published over the last 10 years was performed. A total of 795 publications were identified, of which 36 were selected.
Results. All existing methods of drinking water treatment and disinfection based on the use of thermal treatment, ultraviolet irradiation, clarification, filtration and chemical disinfection and technological solutions for their application in field conditions are analysed.

Key words: disinfection methods, drinking water, field conditions, purification methods
