A brief description of the neurophysiological nature of pain, methods of its registration and prognosis of diagnostic possibilities are presented. Scaling methods are analyzed. The conclusion is made about the subjectivity of the majority of existing methods of pain registration and about the relevance of the development of the method of express registration of pain syndrome.

Key words: methods of registering of pain, nociception, pain measurement scales, pain, subjectivity of pain
